BINOM.INV (TrialCount, Probability, Alpha) BINOM.INV (TrialCount; Probability; Alpha)

TrialCount

The total number of trials.

Probability

Number Number

The probability of success for one trial.

Alpha

Number Number

The threshold probability to be reached or exceeded.

Returns

Number Number

The smallest value for which the cumulative binomial distribution is greater than or equal to the threshold.

Returns the smallest number of successes for which the cumulative binomial distribution is greater than or equal to a given threshold. This is the inverse of the cumulative BINOM.DIST function.

Example

BINOM.INV (12, 40 % , 0.75)

BINOM.INV (12; 40 % ; 0,75)

Returns 6. In 12 trials with a 40% success probability, the smallest number of successes for which the cumulative probability reaches or exceeds 0.75 is 6.
