F.DIST (X, DegreesOfFreedom1, DegreesOfFreedom2, IsCumulative) F.DIST (X; DegreesOfFreedom1; DegreesOfFreedom2; IsCumulative)

X

Number Number

The value at which to evaluate the function.

DegreesOfFreedom1

Number Number

The numerator degrees of freedom.

DegreesOfFreedom2

Number Number

The denominator degrees of freedom.

IsCumulative

Logical Logical

TRUE to return the probability that a value is at most the value of the X parameter (the cumulative distribution function). FALSE to return the height of the distribution's curve at that value (the probability density function), which is useful for plotting the distribution but is not itself a probability.

Returns

Number Number

A value for an F distribution.

Returns a value for an F distribution. The F distribution describes the ratio of two sample variances. It is used to test whether two populations have the same variance (see F.TEST) and in analysis of variance.

Examples

F.DIST (15.2069, 6, 4, TRUE)
F.DIST (15,2069; 6; 4; TRUE)

Returns roughly 0.99.

F.DIST (15.2069, 6, 4, FALSE)
F.DIST (15,2069; 6; 4; FALSE)

Returns roughly 0.0012.
