GAMMALN (Number) GAMMALN (Number)
Number
Number Number
The value for which the natural logarithm of the gamma function should be calculated. Must be positive.
Returns
Number Number
The natural logarithm of the gamma function.
Returns the natural logarithm of the gamma function. For positive integers, the gamma function satisfies GAMMA (N) = FACT (N - 1) GAMMA (N) = FACT (N - 1). This function is useful in statistical calculations where the gamma function appears in distribution formulas but the values would be too large to compute directly. See also GAMMA, GAMMA.DIST, and GAMMALN.PRECISE.
Example
GAMMALN (4)
GAMMALN (4)
Returns roughly 1.79.
