RSQ (Numbers1, Numbers2) RSQ (Numbers1; Numbers2)

Numbers1

The first set of values. This array must have the same size as the other array parameter.

Numbers2

The second set of values. This array must have the same size as the other array parameter.

Returns

Number Number

The square of the Pearson correlation coefficient of two sets of data.

Returns the square of the Pearson correlation coefficient of two sets of data. The result is between 0 and 1. It is the proportion of the variation in one set of values that a straight line through the data explains. CORREL and PEARSON return the standard Pearson correlation coefficient.

Example

RSQ ({ 2, 4, 5, 8 }, { 1, 2, 3, 4 })
RSQ ({ 2; 4; 5; 8 }; { 1; 2; 3; 4 })

Returns roughly 0.96. A straight line explains 96% of the variation in the first set of values.
