FVSCHEDULE (Principal, Schedule) FVSCHEDULE (Principal; Schedule)

Principal

Number Number

The initial value of the lump sum.

Schedule

An array containing a schedule of interest rates which apply each period.

Returns

Number Number

The future value of a lump sum, with changing future interest rates.

Returns the future value of a lump sum after applying a series of variable interest rates, one per period. Unlike FV, which assumes a constant rate, this function allows a different rate for each period.

Example

FVSCHEDULE (2000, { 3 % , 4 % , 5 %  })
FVSCHEDULE (2000; { 3 % ; 4 % ; 5 %  })

Returns roughly $2,249.52. Suppose you invest $2,000 for three years and expect interest rates of 3% in the first year, 4% in the second year and 5% in the third year. After three years the investment will be worth roughly $2,249.52.
