Date1
The date at the start of the period.
Date2
The date at the end of the period. The result is negative if this date is earlier than the start date.
Method
FALSE to use the US NASD method and TRUE to use a European method. If omitted, FALSE is assumed.
Returns
The number of days between two dates, assuming a year with 360 days.
Returns the number of days between two dates. Unlike the DAYS function, this function is based on a year with 360 days (divided into twelve months, each containing 30 days). Some accounting systems use this calculation.
The US and European methods, chosen with the Method parameter, differ in how they treat the last day of a month. The European method treats a date on the 31st of a month as the 30th. The US method treats a start date on the 31st or on the last day of February as the 30th. It treats an end date on the 31st as the 30th only if the start date is the 30th or the 31st.
Examples
Returns 11400, which is the number of days between May 1, 1981, and January 1, 2013, assuming a year with 360 days.
Returns 76, as the US method only treats March 31 as March 30 if the start date is the 30th or the 31st.
