GAMMA.DIST (Value, Alpha, Beta, IsCumulative) GAMMA.DIST (Value; Alpha; Beta; IsCumulative)

Value

Number Number

A value at which to evaluate the function.

Alpha

Number Number

The shape parameter of the distribution.

Beta

Number Number

The scale parameter of the distribution.

IsCumulative

Logical Logical

TRUE to return the probability that a value is at most the value of the Value parameter (the cumulative distribution function). FALSE to return the height of the distribution's curve at that value (the probability density function), which is useful for plotting the distribution but is not itself a probability.

Returns

Number Number

A value for a Gamma distribution.

Returns a value for a Gamma distribution. The Gamma distribution describes the waiting time until a number of events have occurred, if the events occur independently at a constant average rate. The number of events is given by the Alpha parameter and the mean waiting time between events by the Beta parameter. If the Alpha parameter is 1, this is the exponential distribution (see EXPON.DIST).

Example

GAMMA.DIST (2, 1, 1, TRUE)
GAMMA.DIST (2; 1; 1; TRUE)

Returns roughly 0.86.
