Length
Number Number (optional)
The number of characters to include. If omitted, 1 is assumed, meaning that only the first character of the text string is returned.
Returns
Text Text
The first characters of the given text string.
Returns the first characters from a text string. See also RIGHT to extract characters from the end of a text string, and MID to extract characters from any position.
Examples
LEFT ("abcd")
LEFT ("abcd")
Returns "a", the first character of "abcd".
LEFT ("abcd", 2)
LEFT ("abcd"; 2)
Returns "ab", the first two characters of "abcd".
